Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, facing multiple counts of fraud as the state's chief legal officer, will reportedly take time out of his busy defense schedule today to announce that he’s suing the Obama administration over transgender bathroom use. President Obama wants trans students to have a choice. Paxton wants to reserve the right to discriminate against trans students.
The attorney general has scheduled a 2 p.m. news conference Wednesday in Austin. WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported Tuesday evening that Paxton would announce the legal challenge then.
My, my, Paxton is a busy boy. Last week, he and two other attorneys general demanded that the administration clarify whether states that didn't comply with the administration's directive would lose funding. He also signed on to an amicus brief earlier this month in support of a Virginia school district which prohibited a male transgender student from using the men's bathroom.
“One’s sex is a biological fact, not a state of mind,” Paxton said in a statement.
Paxton isn't a scientist (though he’s happy to weigh in), but he is supposedly a "legal expert"—a position he's clearly excelled at. Apparently, he’d much rather talk bathrooms than fraud.
