Not only can Donald Trump be riled into vulgar action by the slightest perceived insult, he can’t let anything go. Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, issued a statement on the ongoing wrangle with a Gold Star family.
Donald Trump and I believe that Captain Humayun Khan is an American hero and his family, like all Gold Star families, should be cherished by every American.
Captain Khan gave his life to defend our country in the global war on terror. Due to the disastrous decisions of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, a once stable Middle East has now been overrun by ISIS. This must not stand.
Pence immediately shows how he ‘cherishes’ Captain Khan by blaming his death on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Khan died in Iraq in 2004. And yes, while some might argue that Hillary Clinton was partially culpable as she voted for Bush’s invasion of Iraq — so did Mike Pence.
By suspending immigration from countries that have been compromised by terrorism, rebuilding our military, defeating ISIS at its source and projecting strength on the global stage, we will reduce the likelihood that other American families will face the enduring heartbreak of the Khan family.
‘Cherish’ also means not allowing families like the Khans to immigrate to America by casting blame on their entire religion and entire nation for the actions of a few. It also means that the people most at risk from ISIS—the refugees trying to flee the area of active conflict—will be not just abandoned, but blamed for their own doom. Thousands of families like the Khans will face heartbreak … they’ll just do it where we don’t see it.
Donald Trump will support our military and their families and we will defeat the enemies of our freedom.
As it happens, Donald Trump continues to tweet on the topic. Here is how he’s showing his support.
The story is about an American hero, a grieving family, and a candidate so egotistical and lacking in empathy that he can’t for a moment restrain his desire to lash back at every perceived slight.
