Obama congratulates law enforcement. “As is my practice, I’ll leave it to FBI and law enforcement to provide details.”
Has promised full federal support to DeBlasio, Cuomo, Christie. “If you see something suspicious, tell someone.” Warns media not to get ahead of the investigation.
Law enforcement is “moving smartly” on investigation and “it doesn’t help” to have media get ahead of itself.
There’s a high level of federal resources in place because of annual UN meeting, so everything is in place. “At this point, we see no connection” between stabbings in Minnesota and the bombing attempts.
Has promised MN Gov. Dayton all the necessary resources from the federal government.
Is taking this opportunity to assure the people of the region and the nation that federal, state, and local law enforcement is working to protect and prevent further attacks. Speaks again on U.S. and international efforts to keep ISIS contained.
At moments like this, it’s important to remember what the terrorists are trying to do: “undermine our values,” and instill fear. “We all have a role to play as citizens to make sure we don’t succumb to that fear.”
Lauds the citizens of New York for not panicking. “It shows the entire world that as Americans, we do not and never will give in to fear.”
