More than 110,000 people and entities contributed to the Twin Towers Fund in the year after the 9/11 attacks. Donald Trump pledged to be among them, saying he’d give $10,000. Guess what:
“My office has reviewed the donations made in the nearly 12 months following the attacks – and we didn’t find evidence that he contributed a single cent to the victims, our first responders, and to our city through the Twin Towers Fund,” New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, a Democrat, said in a statement to ABC News today. [...]
Stringer’s office found no record of a donation made by Trump or a Trump entity in the year after the tragedy, contrary to the real estate developer’s claims.
It’s technically possible that Trump could have given to the 9/11 fund more than a year later … but come on. This is Donald Trump we’re talking about. David Fahrenthold has amply demonstrated that Trump’s claims about his charitable giving are ludicrously inflated, and that said charitable giving is lower than that of many people with a tiny fraction of Trump’s net worth. The likelihood that Trump would fail to give right when he pledged to do so, fail to give for months thereafter, and then do the right thing much later when no one was paying attention is smaller than Trump’s hands.
