While you’re enjoying your Thanksgiving dinner, thousands of part-time and seasonal workers are prevented from enjoying theirs by companies seeking to feed their bottom line.
Walmart, Kohl’s, and the Gap are just a few of the retailers opening their doors on Thursday to a crush of shoppers who hope to jumpstart their holiday shopping. Last year, several retailers had to call the police when shoppers began fighting over sales.
But, there is a group of retailers who’ve pledged to shut their doors on Thursday, let their employees enjoy the day with friends and family, and settle for opening on Black Friday, which also attracts a few shoppers.
The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year, with analysts expecting sales upwards of $10 billion on Friday alone.
ThinkProgress put together a list of those retailers who are thinking of their employees and remaining closed on Thursday. They include Costco, Apple, The Home Depot, and more.
Thank them for treating their employees well, and shop there on Friday.
