Republicans have apparently decided that avoiding any real contact with voters is the key to not having to confront the disaster that is Obamacare repeal. Refusing to talk to the people they represent is bad enough, but there's also an enraging trend of insulting and dismissing these constituents as "activists" who are just trying to embarrass them.
Case in point, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), most recently seen complaining about the fact that Republicans were rushing to repeal Obamacare when they didn't have a replacement at the ready. Apparently, she's over that. Real people with health issues they're scared of, well, this is what she thinks of them.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who represents a state where an estimated 75,000 residents are covered through the Obamacare marketplace, said some activists were spreading "misinformation" about Republicans' intentions.
"I think it's really unfortunate that some of these paid activists are scaring people about what's going to happen," said Collins, who has counseled her GOP colleagues to move carefully.
Paid Republican Activist Susan Collins doesn't want to hear from her 75,000 constituents who are about to lose their health care. Nice. That'll help her in her run for governor. If you're one of those 75,000 or just care about those 75,000, give her a ring or a visit. Let her know you're not a paid activist, but a voter.
