Hi all,
A friend who is a current staff member for a U.S Senator shared his concrete strategies to protect the ACA. Feel free to share far and wide:
"Call and write personal letters to all your elected representatives, especially the Republican ones. Don't use form letters - calls and personally written emails/letters have a much larger impact than form letters.
Six Republican Senators have signaled reluctance to repeal without a replacement. Tom Cotton (AR), Susan Collins (ME), Rand Paul (KY), Bill Cassidy (LA), Lamar Alexander (TN), and Bob Corker (TN). Bob Corker is up for re-election in 2018. It's especially critical that you encourage anyone you know with family in these states to call and write their Senators and Representatives to vote against the repeal of the ACA.
Only three Republican defections in the Senate would scuttle the ACA repeal. [note: the parts that could changed through reconciliation].
Social media directed at these and other elected reps can have an impact as well, though I think that's less quantifiable than calls and letters.
You can also call and write the White House directly, though it's not clear how effective that will be."
