Former Gov. Nikki Haley won easy confirmation to be UN Ambassador in the Senate this week. Too easily. Way too easily. Only three Democrats—Sens. Chris Coons (DE), Martin Heinrich (NM), Tom Udall (NM)—and independent Bernie Sanders voted against her. Because she was one of those less objectionable nominees, one where Democrats decided they could show they were giving popular vote loser Donald Trump a chance.
And this is what they get in the new UN envoy: a mini-Trump threatening our allies. Here's that threat.
New U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, pledged on Friday to overhaul the world body and warned U.S. allies that if they do not have Washington's back then she is "taking names" and will respond. [emphasis added]
That's what you voted for, most of you Senate Democrats. Remember that in the next few weeks when the rest of Trump's nominees come to the floor. This is Trump we're talking about. Anyone who is willing to be in his cabinet knows what they signed up for is going to do his will. Don't be complicit in that.
When it comes to being the "loyal opposition," the operative word is "opposition." Put your loyalty behind the millions of us who marched last weekend and who will continue the resistance.
