Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan huddled behind closed doors on Tuesday morning to urge nervous Republicans to support popular vote loser Donald Trump’s vile Muslim ban:
Ryan cautioned lawmakers that support won't be easy and warned them to expect protests in their districts.
Rep. Phil Roe of Tennessee said Ryan told GOP members that the "the rollout was a little bumpy, been a few potholes in the road but the actual policy he agreed with."
Uh-huh. Chaos and confusion within government agencies, federal courts ruling against it, families torn apart, images of a child in handcuffs, abandoning overseas military partners, massive protests across the country, condemnation from around the world, but sure. A little bumpy. Or as the fascist in the White House said, it’s “going very nicely.”
Why should Ryan care if a 9-year-old Somali child with a congenital heart defect, or a 1-year-old Sudanese child with cancer can’t get treatment. Or if a Yazidi family that survived genocide is trapped in a refugee camp? He’ll happily support whatever crap Trump peddles as long as it means fulfilling his ambition to shred the social safety net.
There was one thing Ryan was right about … expect protests.
