During an MSNBC interview with Andrea Mitchell, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice emphasized that the investigations into Russia's influence in the 2016 elections "are very important and very serious." She also flatly rejected any Trump-fueled notion that the Obama White House surveilled either Trump or his team.
“The allegation is that somehow, Obama administration officials utilized intelligence for political purposes,” Rice told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. “That’s absolutely false.” [...]
“The notion, which some people are trying to suggest, that by asking for the identity of the American person is the same is leaking it — that’s completely false,” Rice said. “There is no equivalence between so-called unmasking and leaking.”
Rice also again pointed out that the sitting president has no personal authority to order surveillance of any American, rendering Trump's claims implausible.
Her appearance was met with an immediate Twitter fit from the White House.
Yes, that's the official White House director of social media. Just so you have yet another comparison between the members of any previous White House and this ... attempt.
