It's really impossible to know what's going on in popular vote loser Donald Trump's head, but it sounds like maybe he's changed his mind since Sunday on this whole thing: "I'll tell you who doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. Obamacare." Also that "pre-existing conditions are in the bill." Because he's on a whole different page now.
President Donald Trump said Monday the Republican health-care bill being negotiated in Congress ultimately will protect Americans with pre-existing conditions as well as Obamacare does.
“I want it to be good for sick people. It’s not in its final form right now," he said during an Oval Office interview Monday with Bloomberg News. "It will be every bit as good on pre-existing conditions as Obamacare." [emphasis added]
What does this mean? It means there can't be a vote on whatever it is that's in Trump's head this week. There just isn't time to rewrite all of that by Friday.
Unless they just forget about the MacArthur amendment that allows states to opt out of those protections, but that just takes us back to the Zombie Trumpcare bill that's already failed twice. House leadership might decide that they'll just ignore Trump and go do their thing, but that thing is on the verge of failure, again.
Now Trump has given every wavering Republican all the cover they need to say no to this bill. Let's give them a little a push.
House Republicans are hell-bent on ripping away our health insurance. Call your member of Congress at 202-224-3121, and demand they vote NO on a renewed Trumpcare that is worse than the one before. Remind them they work for you.
