House Oversight Committee Chair Jason Chaffetz is unhappy about the appointment of a special counsel on Trump-Russia ties, and he is all kinds of missing the point:
"I have not seen any evidence of actual collusion. Where is the actual crime that they think they need a special prosecutor to prosecute?" he asked during an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
You haven’t been looking too hard for collusion, now have you, Jason? You have, but have ostentatiously not used, subpoena power. And a special counsel can do the investigating you and your fellow Republicans have stonewalled on. Is that maybe the problem here? If this is the Chaffetz standard for prosecution—do you see evidence before an investigation has taken place—there’s probably a person or two in prison right now who’d like to take advantage of it.
Chaffetz went on to raise concerns during his Fox News appearance that Democrats will "politically exploit" the investigation.
Are you laughing so hard it’s actually difficult to say the word “Benghazi”? Because I am.
