Donald Trump's team continues to openly mock all attempts at getting them to not be crooked.
Heather Rinkus, the guest reception manager at Trump's "Winter White House," is working with the president's advance and logistics team, while Trump's exclusive club, Mar-a-Lago, closes for the summer. She has an official White House email and government-issued phone, two sources familiar with Rinkus’ trip told BuzzFeed News.
That's right, one of the members of the advance team planning out Trump's Italy trip is the Mar-a-Lago guest reception manager. Who, apparently, is now also working for the Trump administration during the Trump resort's down time. So who's paying her? What's she actually doing? If someone wants to book a weekend trip to Mar-a-Lago, should they contact her through her new White House address or through the old one? And exactly how removed is Donald Trump from his businesses if he's got his business employees working second shifts in government jobs? The answers are hell-if-we-know, because the White House isn't talking.
Neither the White House nor Trump Organization returned multiple requests for comment. They also did not answer a list of questions regarding Heather Rinkus’ role, including who was paying for her government work — taxpayers or Mar-a-Lago — or if Rinkus had resigned from Mar-a-Lago (Asked about Heather Rinkus, a Mar-a-Lago employee, who answered the main phone line at the club, said Rinkus was traveling abroad for two to three weeks and would be back after).
That's right, the federal government itself, in the form of the Trump White House, is so far refusing to clarify just what the Mar-a-Lago reception manager is doing for the government. That's just great.
Oh, and by the way her husband is a convicted felon who's been bragging to companies that he has access to Trump via his wife—but when it comes to the kind of people Trump has surrounded himself with, that part almost goes without saying.
