Here's where some Republicans need to put on their big girl and boy pants and just toughen up. If they don't like the Trumpcare process, then they can end it today. Otherwise, they need to just shut the fuck up.
Key senators on Monday expressed unhappiness with the way the healthcare debate has been handled in the Senate on the eve of a critical procedural vote that could bury the Republican measure. […]
"I don't have a clue what we're gonna be voting on," said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.). "I just need to know what I'm going to vote on. I'm not real happy with the process." […]
"I'd like to know," said Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), a possible swing vote. "I'm told we'll be finding that out, which would be very important." […]
Sen. Rand Paul also expressed his frustration about not knowing the next steps. He noted that neither the Congressional Budget Office nor the Senate Parliamentarian has analyzed an amendment from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) that is essential to winning over conservatives.
That quote from Paul is bullshit, by the way. He got what he wanted so he's a yes for today, but if anyone sticks a mic in his face, he's going to be happy to bitch. Because that's who he is. It appears that his malady is catching, because these Republicans sure are enjoying their moment to bitch about how awfully they're being treated.
You know who wields the most power in the United States today? A handful of Republican senators who hold the fate of millions of Americans in their hands, not to mention the institution of the Senate. If they're concerned about how this has all unfolded, if they don't like Mitch McConnell's leadership, then they get to vote on it. They can end it today with a resounding "no" vote on the motion to proceed—or spend the rest of their careers in the Senate getting trampled on by leadership.
Here are the reported undecideds, the senators whose states have the most to lose. Call them. Tell them to bring this travesty to a screeching halt by voting "no" on the motion to proceed.
Make your Republican senator feel the heat. Call their office EVERY DAY at (202) 224-3121 to demand that they say NO to repealing Obamacare and ripping health care away from millions of Americans. After your call, tell us how it went.
