As attorney general appointed by a man so fragile he lashes out constantly at his critics and is currently worked up over a protest that is not just peaceful but silent and motionless, here’s what Jefferson Sessions reportedly plans to say about “free speech on campus” Tuesday at Georgetown University:
"Whereas the American university was once the center of academic freedom — a place of robust debate, a forum for the competition of ideas — it is transforming into an echo chamber of political correctness and homogenous thought, a shelter for fragile egos."
This isn’t just in hilarious-if-it-wasn’t-so-scary contrast with Donald Trump’s attacks on First Amendment freedoms, it’s a cover for Sessions’ actual plan of attacking academic freedom. Once he paints those dastardly liberals as the problem with free speech in America, then going after their free speech will be the obvious answer.
