Campaign Action
In the wake of the news that Donald Trump had finally gotten around to calling the wife of Sgt. La David Johnson who was killed in action earlier this month, only to tell the grieving widow that her husband “knew what he signed up for,” Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to deny he said it. He claimed that Rep. Frederica Wilson, who reported his gross insensitivity, “totally fabricated” his words, and claimed he has “proof” to back up his claims. But Wilson isn’t the only one making the claim:
Johnson's mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told The Post on Wednesday that she was in the car during the call from the White House and that "President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband." [...]
… asked whether Wilson's account of the conversation between Trump and the family was accurate, she replied: "Yes."
Will Trump produce his so-called proof? Or will he say that this mother who just lost her son is a liar too?

So, Trump is doubling down on his denial … and making threats:
Trump says Wednesday before a meeting at the White House that he “didn’t say it at all.” He adds: “I had a very nice conversation with the woman, the wife, who sounded like a lovely woman. Did not say what the congresswoman said.” [...]
Trump, asked by reporters about an earlier tweet saying he had “proof”of what he said, the president said: “let her (Wilson) make her statement again and you’ll find out.”
Congresswoman Wilson sees his threat, says bring it on and then some:
