It’s Mueller-lite time:
Former Trump campaign aide Sam Clovis has withdrawn from consideration to be the Department of Agriculture's chief scientist …
Clovis has come under criticism recently for his lack of science credentials and for his role supervising George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser who struck a plea deal on charges he lied to FBI investigators about his communications with Russia-linked contacts.
In Clovis’ letter to Trump he sobbed about “the political climate” and how he just wouldn’t be able to get a fair shake. Apparently there was no mention that he was truly and utterly unqualified for the job, nor the pesky fact that he is now up to his neck in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
On the bright side, Clovis will now have plenty of time to spend with his family lawyers.
