Attorney General Jeff Sessions, just like most Republicans who are in position to make a real difference at this critical moment in history, continues to forsake his country in service of a pr*sident who’s arguably facing the most serious conspiracy investigation since Watergate. And the day Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe stepped down last week was no different. In a newly published interview, Sessions used the occasion of McCabe’s departure to ostensibly hint at a purge inside the FBI given the context of the moment. CNN writes:
"Well, I have believed it was important to have a fresh start at the FBI, and actually, it was in my letter to the President when I recommended (former FBI Director James) Comey's removal. I used the words, 'fresh start,' and the FBI director is Chris Wray, a very talented, smart, capable leader," Sessions told the Washington Examiner on the day McCabe left the bureau. The interview was published on Tuesday.
That’s Jeffy taking credit for the idea of scrubbing the FBI of anyone Trump didn’t deem sufficiently loyal, like James Comey. After throwing the FBI under the bus, Sessions turned to trashing his own agency in the interview.
Sessions also said there has been an "erosion" of public trust in the DOJ, telling the Examiner that the department needs to earn that back "because the heart and soul of the Department of Justice is very good."
Don’t get too positive, Jeffy, the boss man might not like it! Also, how about saying the attacks on your agency are unjustified and certainly aren’t helping Justice Department employees do their jobs? Apparently that’s just a bridge too far for the top enforcement officer in that nation. What a disgrace.
