Tuesday night's epic win for progressive Judge Rebecca Dallet in Wisconsin brought out Gov. Scott Walker's Trumpiness as he took to tweeting his displeasure. Dallet swamped Walker's handpicked candidate, Michael Screnock, by nearly 12 points, 44-56. That's got Walker scared and whiny.
Watching the results, Walker tweeted his fear and loathing, saying the state is "at risk of a #BlueWave in WI" because the "Far Left is driven by anger & hatred." What's more, Walker warns, he is the next target: "Big government special interests flooded Wisconsin with distorted facts & misinformation. Next, they'll target me and work to undo our bold reforms."
Turns out, a lot of voters don't consider turning the state into a subsidiary of Koch Industries so much a "bold reform" as a really bad idea. They're also not so thrilled with the standard-bearer of Walker's party or the party's overlords.
Voter Doug Clawson, of Madison, says he voted for Dallet to send a message to Trump and Republicans that "we're going to take our country back."
Phil Ouellette, also of Madison, says he was turned off by the NRA's backing of Screnock. Ouellette says "I don't want to support anyone who's backed by the NRA right now."
Dallet's win narrows the conservative rule on the state's highest court from five-to-two in favor of conservatives to four-to-three, where there are now six women. But it is also a major victory for voting rights in a state that has rivaled North Carolina with its zeal for voter suppression. No wonder Walker is freaking out.
