Meet Lucy McBath. She spent her entire career as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. She also suffered an unbelievable tragedy in 2012 when her 17-year-old son, Jordan Davis, was murdered by 47-year-old Michael Dunn at a Jacksonville gas station. Dunn pulled up next to a vehicle and ended up firing 10 bullets into the car, which was carrying Jordan and his friends. Why? Dunn didn’t like their “thug” music. He was eventually convicted of Jordan’s murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Lucy McBath said her son was a leader and the family always believed he would be a community organizer. He was a positive force in his family and his community, and was destined for great things. And now Lucy McBath says she is running for Congress because she is still his mother, she is still mothering him, and she has realized that she is working to fulfill the untold promise of Jordan Davis—to become everything he was destined to be.
Daily Kos is proud to endorse Lucy McBath for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District and recent polling shows she’s in a tight race against Karen Handel, the woman who narrowly defeated Jon Ossoff in a special election last year.
