Donald Trump may have lashed out and called George Conway a “total loser” on Tuesday morning, but Conway isn't backing down from his persistent criticism of his wife’s boss. “I thought it was a perfect example of the point I was making,” Conway told the Washington Post. “He can’t concern himself with affairs of state. He’s more concerned about what people say about him and waging little battles with everyone and everything.”
Conway also detailed past conversations with Trump, including that, during the transition, Trump cited John Bolton’s mustache as a reason not to name him secretary of state—“He just went on and on about the mustache”—and that Trump had repeatedly consulted him about legal issues. Conway is a partner in a major law firm.
In a twist on George and Kellyanne Conway’s toxic Carville-Matalin dynamic—except that they’re political opponents within the same party—George Conway also told the Washington Post that he tweets his criticisms of Trump “so I can get it off my chest and move on with my life that day. That’s basically it. Frankly, it’s so I don’t end up screaming at her about it.”
