Sen. Kamala Harris is becoming the first top-tier Democratic presidential candidate to run a television ad, launching a six-figure ad buy in Iowa as she starts a five-day bus tour of the state. The ad, “Me, Maya, and Mom,” focuses on Harris’ mother’s struggles to “make it all work” as a single parent, tying that to the concerns of families now.
In the ad, Harris touts her 3 AM agenda. This time, 3 AM isn’t about an international emergency waking up a president in the middle of the night, it’s about the worries that keep working people awake in the night, thinking about how to make ends meet and keep their kids safe. “That's what I'm fighting for—real relief for families like yours,” Harris says in the ad’s voiceover. “Not in 20 years. Not in 30. Starting my first day as president. Because you've waited long enough to get a good night's sleep.”
The six-figure ad buy is for TV and digital, with $66,500 going to the Des Moines television market.
