House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she’s opening a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump less than 24 hours ago. It’s been a wild ride since then! The White House released a document described as a transcript of Trump’s call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, though we know that it is not actually a transcript. You can read it here. Today, Trump met with President Zelensky. A press conference followed. So did many tweets from Trump. In short, it’s been a wild Wednesday.
There’s been a lot of smaller steps along the way, and of course, loads of reactions on social media. Let’s look at who has been tweeting what—including politicians—and which old videos are recirculating with a refreshed gusto. Among other things: Hi, Barr, and hello, many GIFs.

Including Harris herself:
Maine Sen. Susan Collins also did not emerge unscathed, which is what happens when you refuse to comment on a call for impeachment investigation … in spite of your state’s constituents moving for it:
Here’s what major Democrats have said:
Here’s what Republicans have had to say … and sometimes, not say:
Lots is coming back to bite people:
And lots of wise hot takes are gaining traction:
And of course, lots of dark humor:
And let’s get to the actual meeting with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky:
And Trump’s press conference, which he was late for:
Trump also appears to want to bring Pence down with him:
CNN cut away from Trump, though not permanently. Still a good showing, though:
MSNBC did some live fact-checking:
Trump said he thought impeachment was “dead” and bemoaned that he used to get “good” press:
He also promised to release the phone call, but let’s be real …
House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff, after reading the whistleblower complaint :
