Thinking about California and Bush's $200M warchest for the upcoming primaries and election, it occurred to me: there may be very few safe Democrat states.
Now, don't get me wrong, I still think we're going to win at least the Presidency and we have a good enough shot at the Senate. But I've been thinking about how some people point out a weakness here and a weakness there in otherwise-safe Republican states will force them to defend there, lest the Democrats sneak up and pull the upset. However, the fact remains that Bush is raising an obscene amount of money for this election. I didn't keep up with the California recall that much, but it seems to me a Republican money advantage helped turn an historically Democratic state more toward the Republican side of things.
So, they're going to have Bush's Millions, plus whatever other money they can round up. If they bought California, is any blue state safe?
And, just to piss off the rabidly anti-Dean crowd, could a large-scale grassroots movement such as Howard Dean is building counteract the money advantage? Could a large-scale grassroots movement raise enough cash to compete with Bush's Millions?
