The math is simple: according to Sen. Leahy's website (
http://leahy.senate.gov/issues/nominations/november2003.html), the republicans under Clinton blocked 63 judicial nominations, while 248 were confirmed, a "block" rate of 20%. Under Bush, 168 nominees have been approved, and 6 have been blocked, a block rate of 3.4% (and remember that Dems controlled the Senate for the 1st two years after Bush's election, sorry, I meant appointment, to the presidency).
Go to Leahy's site and others with info on this topic and educate yourself. And then, I urge everyone that hears or reads ANY news story on the republican "filibuster" that does not contain the the hard cruel stats on the republicans' horrid history in this area to call or email the news agency in question, and give them HELL. Fighting egregious despicable hypocrisy of this kind is a perfect job for the blog/internet revolution -- USE THAT POWER.
