It's election day in a number of states, including the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is the place to comment.
All 140 seats of the General Assembly are on Virginia's ballot today, as well as all the seats on the boards of supervisors in Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties. Leaders from both parties expect the closest races for state offices to be in Northern Virginia, where voters will play a key role in determining whether to extend the Republican dominance of the legislature or grant Democrats their first gains in 20 years.
Off- year elections are rarely belle-weathers, but Virginia is a Red state with a D gov. We'll see what the citizens do with the lege.
The Kentucky Gov race is going to be a quick peek at the body politic. The mayor's race in Philly is sui generis.
