Clark and his supporters make a huge deal out of Clark's graduating at the top of his West Point class. But...
Rear Admiral John Poindexter, convicted Iran-Contra felon, mad scientist who wants a tap on every bit of information in the known universe, inventor of the terrorism futures market, and all around nasty-type fellow, graduated at the top of HIS class at Annapolis AND was brigade commander at Academy; the only other man to ever accomplish this feat in any service was Douglas MacArthur. Arguably this demonstration of academic and leadership excellence is an equivalent or greater feat than Clark's top honors and Rhodes Scholarship. Poindexter also sports excellent genes; one of his sons in an astronaut.
So why, given that such intellect and leadership did not preclude Poindexter from being a very shady character and a boil on the butt of America, are people so damn convinced that Clark's resume means he'll be a good President? Anyone have a reasonable answer?
