Disclaimer: I am a Dean backer and contributor. I am still interested in Wes Clark.
I have been criticial of statistics thrown out in politics using the Mark Twain quote: "Figures don't lie, but liars can figure..."
Now the BUSHITERs are the liars who can figure, but we need to do a bit of an education campaign to help the voters of American see when the Liars are busy figuring. So it is important for a good understanding of MEDIANs to be a part of the political discourse.
Simply put, the MEDIAN is: half are higher, half are lower. So the MEDIAN family income means that one half make more, and one half make less.
Now to the subject of my Diary Entry. There is a campaign out there that is starting to use MEDIANs. I haven't seen MEDIANs used anywhere else... (I welcome comments and links to other campaigns that are starting to use MEDIANs.)
That campaign is: Wes Clark's Campaign.
Under Family Income, President Bush's Record of Failure: Link
I think they deserve some recognition for it...
And I am giving it, here, right now!
Bravo, Wes Clark!
There is a joke circulating about averages, and it goes something like this.
Bill Gates walks into a bar with 30 people in it. Now the average wealth of everybody in the bar is a BILLION dollars.
Averages are one way the BUSHITERs can figure.
A lot of people look at average tax cuts and think they are OK. They look at average family income and think they are OK.
The time has come for MEDIANs to replace averages in many discussions at KOS and everywhere else.
Again, Bravo! Wes Clark!
