Jerome over at MyDD has the
latest on
Ginny Schrader, including a good example of enthusiastic public support (from the subscription-only CQ):
Mary Isenhour, the top aide to Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman T.J. Rooney, said Schrader enjoys the party's support, even under the contest's apparently altered circumstances. "She's a great candidate," Isenhour said.
Meanwhile, the Philly Daily News writes about Schrader's latest
bloggy hipness:
Schrader's campaign, which had just under $8,000 in the bank, says she has received about $29,000 in contributions submitted to her Internet site.
She can thank the "Blogosphere," a group of political Web logs, or blogs, that alerted readers to the news on Monday. The chance to capture a seat held by a Republican for 12 years also prompted the National Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to send a staffer yesterday to visit Schrader.
That could mean significant national money for her campaign.
Schrader will still have to show she can run a battleground race. That means taking the momentum generated by her newfound visibility and turning it into real dollars. $30K in blogosphere donations are great, but she'll need close to $1 million to win this race. And she ain't gonna get that money from the blogs.
