I can't begin to explain how troubled I am by the prominent posting of Bush's arrest record, not to mention all the other nonsense about Bush's TANG time, coke habit, and other shit that happened years ago.
It is clear that no one other than those of us who already despise Bush give a rat's ass about any of this. It's just all part of being that natural born, er, imported, good 'ol texan.
Every day we spend harping on this is a day we spend losing the election.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting we go all Mr. Rogers and start playing nice. But we don't need to go back 30 years to find shit to attack Bush with.
The man has been an utter failure as a president, and we're giving him a free ride on it to focus on his being an utter failure as a national guard member, business school student, and overall child of privilige.
This campaign shouldn't be about the lies he told to get out of the National Guard or to hide his drug/alcohol problems. It should be about he lies he told to justify sacrificing 1000 of our best and brightest to make this world more dangerous.
It should be about the lies he told that has eroded America's standing as the unquestioned leader in the world order.
It should be about the lies he told that have cost millions of Americans their jobs and have left many more millions without adequate health insurance.
It should be about the lies he told that have left virtually every child behind. And has left them with the bill to pay for our lack of fiscal restraint.
It should be about the lies he told that have eroded our civil liberties and have resulted in hundreds of innocent bystanders detained for days in a toxic warehouse.
It should be about the lies he told that has turned compassionate conservatism into empassioned bigotry.
Bush wants this campaign to be about mistakes made 30 years ago, because he knows, no matter how eggregious his mistakes were back then, they pale in comparison to those of his last four years.
