I'm helping out my wife, who's a field organizer for Kerry/Edwards in Colorado Springs, CO. We're contacting people who are on the fence as to who they're going to vote for on Nov. 2.
My job, such as it is, is to answer any questions undecided voters may have about any and all issues. This entails going into depth on anything from abortion to Kerry's position on aliens form the planet Zoltar (I'm serious--that came up).
More below the fold...
Tonight, I spoke with a gentleman who had two pretty basic questions:
- How's John Kerry going to decrease my health insurance premiums by $1,000?
- How's John Kerry going to add 10 million jobs to the economy?
Despite all my selling gifts, I couldn't give him what he wants--empirical evidence. He wants the blow-by-blow, number-by-number breakdown of those two claims. After talking for nearly an hour, we decided to call it a draw, and I promised to email him the breakdown.
I need your help. I want to keep my promise, and here's the kicker: this man is a small businessman, normally votes GOP, but if I can give him the numbers (not platitudes, hard numbers), then not only will he vote for Kerry, but he'll ask his pals to vote for Kerry as well.
Can you deliver?
I don't want anti-Bush screeds--this isn't the time or place for them. I want hard, logical reasoned analyses of how we can add 10 million jobs to the economy, and cut this guys health-care premiums by $1,000.
Can you deliver?
I'd like to give this guy an email back by Thursday before the debate.
Thank you.
