I've been watching Edwards' act and it's inspired and passionate. All this 'two America' business is indeed on the mark. But something keeps me from trusting him. I'm glad he's spinning this high-flown rhetoric rooted in social justice, but is there any substance behind the rhetoric? I'd hate to think I don't like him just because he's from the south. I'd also hate to think I don't like him because he's too slick a performer, I mean, is it his fault if, through his work in the courtroom, he's become a skillful orator?
I am an idealist by nature and hope I'm not just being succumbing to cynnicism. Maybe it's that he's big on rhetoric and short on specifics.
Can anyone shed some light on the nature of my misgivings?
