WELCOME TO ELECTION 2004
don't listen to the pundits. Don't listen to the spin machine. Stay on message. Keep spouting the facts.
There were two people on the stage last night, one was presidential, one was not. One was eloquent. One was not. One of the candidates spoke with conviction. One spoke as if looking for acceptance. One stood up to all questions and responded strongly. One wilted and stammered and struggled to put his thoughts into words. One will be our President. One will have been our President. Good god the bitch is dead the mean old bitch that wicked bitch is dead.
Thanks go out to all of you who work so hard to keep our message alive and growing and evolving. On November 2 we will have new hope and new direction.
Please continue your hard work, as will I and together we can take back the White House. Take back Congress and take back the moral leadership of this country.
There is still much work to do. The spin machine is already rolling into action. Please write to every media outlet you can and encourage them to report the facts. Encourage them to not be cowed by the manufactured "liberal bias." Encourage your local TV stations to play the full Kerry comments of the infamous flip flops. Then have them report on the inaccuracies of the GOP commercials where the comments are taken out of context. Have them report on the inaccuracies that surround the war on terror and the war in Iraq. That there were no weapons of mass destruction. That Osama Bin Laden and Al-queda attacked the US and not Saddam Hussein and not Iraq. Encourage them to educate their viewers into the facts surrounding Hussein-Bin Laden ties: that there were none. Have them report the fact that Iraq had no nuclear program, no nuclear material, and no nuclear facilities. Have them report that the UN weapons inspector, Hans Blix, and the President's own inspector, David Kay, both reported that they could find no evidence of WMD's.
Today the battle is joined. Truth versus lie. Right versus wrong. Adaptable versus rigid.
Today we are going on the offensive. From now until November 2nd the Bush campaign is going to have to play by our rules and they are going to have to playing from a weaker position. An incumbent should have a comfortable lead this close to an election. Most polls showed Kerry within five to seven points before the debate. Despite all the bad press, the Swift Boat Veterans, and the massive propaganda smear machine, Bush does not have a secure lead with one month to election day. Today they have to play catch up (a statistical dead heat for an incumbent means that the incumbent is behind). Today we seize our opportunity and press the advantage. Our goal should be to close the gap to minus two points at the minimum and to a lead if possible. Gore picked up seven points on election day 2000. We do not want to have to pull out victory from that far behind this year and if we keep working hard we won't be behind.
The economy is our turf and we need to reinforce our position on that issue. The war in Iraq was a mistake, has become a failure, and it is going to take strong and steady leadership to right the wrongs of the current administration. The war on terror is a war on shadows. Pakistan has captured terrorists while we lose our sons and daughters in Iraq. Bin Laden remains free while our troops incur daily casualties in Iraq. The economy is growing but slowly, health care costs are through the roof, medicare is getting more expensive, the prescription drug benefit is no benefit at all except to the drug companies. Bush has failed on education, employment, poverty, and civil rights.
There is only one main talking point from here on: There is only one candidate who is confident, intelligent, eloquent, and presidential and his name is John Kerry.
Hey I'm a partisan hack
