It is time to go after Bill Keller the way Sully and his cohort went after Howell Raines. He has led the way in pushing unbalanced, snarky and poor reporting for the Kerry campaign. Evidence the difference in tone between his primary Bush reporter (the obsequious Elisabeth Bumiller) and the snarky Judy Dean/Howard Dean/John Kerry hatchet lady, Jodi Wilgoren. He's also the same guy vigorously defending Judith Miller for basically writing what Chalabi told her was the truth and for having Kit Seeleye (who along with Ceci Connolly basically created the Gore is a liar meme) always cover Gore whenever he reappears on the scene (most recently, she covered Gore's speech at the convention). We need to get this guy out of there -- we'd be better off with David Brooks as editor of the NYT.
Bill Keller's (nb: Keller is NYT executive editor and formerly was an op-ed columnist supporter of the Iraqi war, penning the infamous column entitled: "The I-Can't-Believe-I'm-a-Hawk Club," see: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F50914F6395F0C7B8CDDAB0894DB404482&incamp=archive
:search) bias against Kerry is in full form today on the NYT's front page.
Today, he placed an above the fold, front page story by Robert Worth entitled, "Wealth of Others, Helped Shape Kerry's Life" in which he talks about Kerry's privileged life (while giving short shrift to the fact that he actually grew up poor).
See: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/10/politics/campaign/10wealth.html
Today, he also placed another, above the fold, front page story by James Bennet (formerly great Middle East reporter turned political hack/attack dog for Keller) entitled "So Alike, Rivals Make It Personal" which details how interesting it is that Kerry and Bush are of the same "class" but don't like each other (everyone of the same class is supposed to like each other).
See: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/10/national/10memo.html
This is the second front page fluff story about Kerry's privilege and class. Remember, Jodi Wilgoren strange "valet" story entitled "Part Butler and Part Buddy, Aide Keeps Kerry Running" (where the "bodyman" that every pol has is suddenly characterized as a valet?)." Fortunately, the story lives forever on the Free Republic -- see: http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/1126083/posts
Keller even wrote a mendacious piece himself with Wilgoren about how Kerry has trouble with Catholics based on a Pew Survey, entitled "Kerry and Religion: Pressure Builds for Public Discussions" along his pet attack dog, Jodi Wilgoren. As well document on Kos and MyDD, Keller and Wilgoren's piece was based on Pew Poll data on religion. Unfortunately, they used data about the attitudes of white Catholics to generalize about the view of all Catholics. If they had actually done their homework, their premise for the piece would be gone. See: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/07/politics/campaign/07memo.html
Wilgoren, Keller's new star, is also the proud author of the piece, "THE 2004 CAMPAIGN: THE EX-GOVERNOR'S WIFE; The Other Doctor in Dean's House Shuns Politics" about Judy Dean (also prominently featured on the front page) that made the country doctor look like the Unabomber).
