Yawn... don't freak out about this. Kerry never had a chance with the Repository. A few years back, I was a server at the oldest Restaurant in Downtown Canton, a big Rethuglican hangout. I can't tell you the number of conversations I overheard that went something like this... "My favorite president was Ronald Reagan but my second favorite was George Bush" or "This is a picture of me and Dan Quayle".
The owner once described himself to me as a "pretty conservative republican". He also used to say that he was good friends with the owner of the Repository and that that's why his restaurant always got good reviews, despite the fact that it was mediocre and overpriced.
In any case, it was clear after working there for some time that the owner did not keep company with liberals and that he was part of a tight social, buisness, and political network of right wingers in Canton. Included in this network was the owner of the Repository. That's why Kerry never had a chance at being endorsed by the Repository.
I'm saddened that my hometown newspaper endorsed the worst president in the history of the United States. Rest assured that the majority of the people in Canton have not endorsed heir chimp.
