Kerry and Bush are polar opposites when it comes to their personal demeaner.
Kerry is solid, grounded, steady, and strong.
Bush is a vacillator, shallow and weak. Ok, we all know this already, so why bring it up with 15 days until the election?
Here's why:
Kerry succeeds when people get to see him for themsleves.
Bush succeeds when the noise of the campaign drowns out the memory of the men running.
The Media Implications of this are Clear. Kerry should run ads that show him personally, and reinforce the memories voters have of him from the debates.
Any Ads that distract from that memory ad to the "noise" and drown out Kerry's key advantage, he is a smarter, stronger, better prepared, commander in cheif than George Bush.
Kerry was weakest post-convention when he was redefined by Swift Boaters, and the Bush attacks. He did not regain his footing until the debates when people had a chance to see him for themselves, and evaluate the "real Kerry" against the cartoon painted by Republicans.
This is important to remember.
Kerry wins when people see him - what that implies for a media campaign is obvious . . .
Let's see lots of "Kerry speaking into the camera" ads.
Quite frankly, AMerican's are sick of exploding fireballs, grainy footage, and clipped gaffs and laugh lines.
Lets let Kerry be Kerry. The last two weeks look like one wall to wall distortion machine. The 527's will run plenty of "contrast" and "attack" ads.
The Campaign should let Kerry make his case directly, speaking into the camera in 30 second bites.
Did Bush screw up the Flu - have Kerry say that.
Is Bush Losing the war - have Kerry tell us.
You get the picture. Believe it or not, Our impression of Kerry as electable is exactly right. Let's give the Swing voter a heavy dose of this man's quiet strength and dignity, and let them compare that to the slander Bush is running.
