As many of you know, People for the American Way and the Election Protection Coalition are sponsoring non-partisan poll monitoring in swing states in order to insure that people's right to vote is not infringed. This is vital work. In many ways, it's the other side of GOTV. We've already seen clear signs of attempted electoral fraud and voter intimidation. Poll monitors will play a crucial roll in making sure that these efforts to steal this election are unsuccessful.
The Election Protection project is particularly interested in having lawyers, law-school students, and clergy volunteer. But there are plenty of jobs for those of us who don't fall into one of these categories. Although they'll be in more states, volunteers are particularly needed for Florida, Ohio, New Mexico, and Colorado. I myself will be working in Akron, OH on election day. If you haven't already made election day plans, please consider volunteering at http://www.ElectionProtection.org.
(And please recommend this diary so that folks who might be interested are made aware of this opportunity.)
