Josh Marshall has chosen his winner of the Imminent Threat Contest! Just as we all knew, even when driven to doubt by the maddeningly disciplined hordes of GOP house slaves, mindlessly trumpeting the fiction that the administration never argued that Iraq was an imminent threat, the administration did, in fact (a concept that hasn't occurred to Andrew Sullivan), say that Iraq was an imminent threat. Here's the winner:
----------------------
"Iraq could decide on any given day to provide a biological or chemical weapon to a terrorist group or individual terrorists. Alliance with terrorists could allow the Iraqi regime to attack America without leaving any fingerprints."
-------------------------
That's the President last fall. Here he is again a few seconds later, the runner up for the imminent threat contest:
"Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof -- the smoking gun -- that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud."
---------------------------
Oh, and in case you GOP sex toys are triumphantly shouting that the President never used the word 'imminent,' shut up now. Then go to TPM and read Marshall's entire post. Then sulk of dumbly to bed, to assume an indefinite fetal position.
Oh, and Andrew Sullivan? Eat shit.
