These days I'm quite busy with life, work & service. And of course lately I'm mostly focussed on helping win this election. My giving and service commitments are heavily concentrated in this one area. I just took a few minutes and looked an interactive piece in the NY times by Kristoff about Dafur.
http://nytimes.com/ (front page - Unkept Promise - on the right). While this election is REALLY important, I'm reminded that there are other humanitarian crisis happening around the world that also deserve our attention. Dafur is one of them.
Here is my suggestion for 5 minutes today for Dafur: 5-6 actions in 5 minutes.
1. Donate $5 or more to one of the humanitarian groups on the ground. Kristoff reminds us that even a very small amount of money goes a really long way in such places. Oct 19 diary entry has links to many of them:

- Call President Bush 202-456-111 and thank him for all he has done about the crisis in Dafur. Let them know you support the US Government doing even more to pressure the Sudanese Governement to end this crisis.
- Call your Member of Congress 1 800 839 5276 and tell them the same thing. http://www.congress.org (to find out who your reps & senators are)
- Call your Senators 1 800 839 5276 and tell them the same thing.
- Spread the word to your friends.
- For the spritually inclined, take moment and offer prayers & blessings for all those hurt and suffering and especially the children.
Thanks for giving me a place to share.
And I'll leave you with this quote:
One little person, giving all of her time to peace, makes news. Many people, giving some of their time, can make history.
