In the last week I've written two diary entries about how to use Google's
AdWords to GOTV.
Read part
one here and part two here.
If
0.25% of Kos' 400,000 readers (1,000 people) spend $20 we can get 400,000
clicks!.
I had planned to make it a series of entries but time is running short and I put most
of the ideas in the earlier diaries. So instead, let's use this to coordinate a
campaign. If you want to run some Google Ads, comment on this diary or send a note to
aaronp808@yahoo.com.
Below the fold I'll share stats from my current Google campaigns and on how I'm using it
to help offset the Sinclair thing...
Click here for a screenshot of
my current Google stats page. Look at the 8 campaigns total for my current
campaigns running the last 6 days. I'm running early voting ads in Miami, Orlando and
Tampa Bay along with register to vote ads in Wisconsin and Iowa and generic Republicans
for Kerry and Mainstream Moms Against Bush ads in PA, FL and WI. This weekend I'll expand
this and probably stop my PA ads opting to focus on OH, Fl and WI.
I've started some Republicans for Kerry ads running on the keywords for Sinclair,
Stolen Honor, Swift Boats, Swifties, etc. They've been getting an impressive 1-1.5%
click through rate!
On Nov. 1 I'm going to go nuts and run a ton of GOTV ads. I'm going to use ads that
may break some of Google's rules. But that's okay because it takes them hours-days to
review ads. All we need is for them to run election eve and election day. These will be
reminders that I'll narrowly target. For example, from 9am-noon I'll run "Don't forget
to vote during your lunch break!" with links to voter location guides and I'll use the
keywords "lunch menu" "take out", etc. That's just an example.
Morning ads.
I'm also running ads on the webcomic Something Positive. They only cost about $15
per day and have 90,000 unique visitors. No, we can't target it geographically but
that's enough unique visitors to make it worth while. Plus they probably break 75/25 for
Kerry (at least). I may do the same on other webcomics.
People read these things
religiously every morning. So it is a great way to remind people when they get to
work to don't forget to vote.
Topical keywords. Keywords on "Johnny Damon", "Damon Ortiz", "World Series
Schedule" have been very good to me. In the summer, "Ivan" was an effective ad. I
recommend making ads on items that pop into the news daily. The advantage is that other
people don't have ads on them yet so the Google real estate is all yours.
Now you can run your own ads. If you want, comment and we'll coordinate. Recommend
and we can get the word out more. Remember, 1000 people runnings $20 of ads equals
400,000 clicks!
