Tuesday, Frontline is airing
Rumsfeld's War and it will be online starting Thurs. Oct. 28th. While the
The Choice (which is already online and will repeat on Monday, Nov. 1) was a good look at the candidate's lives, this 90-minute joint production with the Washington Post gets to the heart of whether Bush and those he chose were driven by the vision of transforming the military and ideology in way that have turned out to be disastorous.
It is a good synthesis of things which have been reported before (including in earlier excellent Frontline like Truth, War, & Consequences which is still worth watching) , but it includes stringing criticism on camera from the former Secretary of the Army under Bush and military figures. Although Rumsfeld refused to be interviewed, it includes those who defend him.
One thing I didn't know was the role Newt Gingrich played in pushing the war plan with far too few troops. The discussion is continuing in this diary.
