I was riding a bus in D.C. today when I heard the following conversation between two students from Turkey:
Man: If they elect Bush I will go back home, no way am I staying here. Or I'll go to Canada.
Woman: If Bush is elected, I will go home to Turkey.
Man: If not, then I will probably look for a job and try to get a visa or a sponsor. But no way if they elect him.
Continued...
Man: He's a killer. And he's so dumb. Or maybe really smart. They made a movie... the Manchurian's Candidate?
Woman: The Manchurian Candidate
Man: Yes, it was where they implanted a chip in his brain to control him. But it cannot be true because Bush has no brain. No place to put the chip.
Man: The war, it changed everything. The whole world hates America.
Woman: When I visit places, I tell them I came from Canada. When I go to Egypt or anywhere I say I'm from Canada. If you say you came from America they hate you and treat you like crap.
Man: And it's the whole world, not just Turkey or Egypt.
Woman: Yes. It's awful. I don't understand why they elect him. He is ruining America and the world.
An interesting view of Bush from foreigners. I don't understand how people can say the rest of the world doesn't matter...
