This is America and I am inspired. I have come to this point in my election journey where I am (momentarily) less obsessed about whether people vote for Kerry or Bush. I began the morning as a poll watcher for Kerry but have been transformed by the process of watching this stream of Americans flow past me. They look so different one from another, different in many more ways than skin color and age. It's their attire that shouts their individuality to me whether it's a business suit, construction boots, expensive jewelry, visors, surgical scrubs, or t-shirts with myriads of logos. American is a society rich in individuality and this is on parade today in Precinct 323, Orange County, Florida.
There is dignity in this process. No spinning in here. They say that thing called democracy is a big leap of faith and they are correct. By that I mean deciding on the next President of the United States of America based on the votes of the woman with the giant, hairy wart on her face, the young man with the spike protruding from his chin, the elderly gent in the wide brim hat, the new mom with baby in tow, and the middle-aged woman with the rolls protruding from her midriff top. I'll leave the polls and climb back on the Kerry bandwagon, but for this moment I am in awe of this process.
