I just sealed the envelope for this letter. I am going to put a stamp on it and mail it via real mail.
Dear Senator Kerry,
I wanted to say "thank you" for your heroic effort to bring our country back on track. The more I have learned about you the more I have been impressed. You fought for our country as a young man, both in the military and as an anti-war activist (and you fought very hard to keep that anti-war activists from sliding into extremism). You have fought for the people for decades in your tenure as a Senator. You ran for the Presidency in a year against an incumbent President many felt was unbeatable, giving people a real choice.
(more below the fold)
I am a former Republican who was never an "anybody but Bush" person. During the primaries I voted for you because I wanted to have a good choice in case I decided not to vote for Bush in the election. Upon learning more information about you and about Bush, I decided you were by far the better candidate. I donated money to your campaign and volunteered my time, and I have never donated or volunteered for a political campaign before. I consider my time and money given to your election campaign to have been well spent.
Thank you also to your family for their tremendous sacrifice. I cannot imagine how hard the campaign was for you and for your family. Thank you for giving us hope that America can be a better place than it currently is. Please make good on your word to keep fighting for us. You were a hero as a young man, and you are a hero today.
Sincerely,
(my real name)
