Hello all, I need your help!
We are amassing quite a few first-person shots of Hurricane Katrina at our photo-log site, visit and share please!
I ask for your first person shots that deal with the evacuation, hunkering down, aftermath, survival, etc.
We are also linked to the growing efforts to provide pictures of the missing to help people looking for loved ones.
A direct link to that work is: Missing Persons.
Update [2005-8-30 17:14:47 by nika7k]:Several founders and members of the South East Asian Earthquake and
Tsunami blog & wiki (tsunamihelp.info), which gained worldwide
attention in the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004, have remobilized on 3
continents to aid in Hurricane Katrina. Please check out our efforts at
katrinahelp.info and add any useful information there!
Update [2005-8-30 17:10:7 by nika7k]:
This is a screenshot I captured from CNN to show something I never thought possible, the twin spans WASHED OUT. It was always sorta scary to drive there, with the wind gusts. Video shows EMPTY cars on some of these broken segments, where are the people?
Missing person work:
NowPublic is setting up a missing persons board to help victims of Hurricane Katrina find those who go missing during the storm.
If you want to publish the photograph of someone you are looking for you can upload it to the site by clicking here or by sending an email to:
news@nowpublic.com.
If you include 'NP 17228' in the body of the email then your email will be automatically posted with other photographs. If you have any information about any of the photographs posted here post a comment below the photo (or video) or contact the owner of the footage by rolling over it and following the instructions that are provided.
If you have any questions please contact us at clorenz@nowpublic.com.

Also someone has ust launched an open blog and mobcast for people interested in
following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina:
katrina05.blogspot.com/
The blog is set up so that anyone can post a blog entry, podcast or
photo to the site. I'm particularly hoping that residents of the Gulf
Coast will be willing to call in and let people know how things are
going for them. Similarly, anyone who would like to share ways to help
out, or wishes to share their thoughts on the hurricane, may post as well.
Here's how to participate.
Post a blog entry:
Send an email to katrina2005.comments @ blogger.com. The title of your
email will be the title of the blog entry, and the email body will be
the blog entry body. If you don't want your contact information, you
should remove your signature file. Attachments will not be posted.
Record a podcast:
Dial 1-415-856-0205
Enter login 515-515-5555
PIN code 2005, then the # key
Record your message
Press the # key to save, then the 1 key to post
Post a photo:
The website is collecting photos from Flickr.com that are tagged with
the word "hurricanekatrina." Simply log on to Flickr (or create an
account), upload photos, and use this tag. Photos appear in the right
column of the blog's homepage.
I've also set up a "tag-o-rama" inside the right column of the blog. It
displays links to relevant key words like hurricane, katrina and new
orleans, linking to tagged content from Technorati (blogs), Flickr
(photos) and del.icio.us (websites).
Please feel free to share this email with anyone who might be interested
in participating.

a massive relief effort to rescue animals and assist their
caregivers in the disaster areas.
Their highly-trained Disaster Animal Response Teams are heading to Mississippi to begin a multi-state animal rescue and recovery effort. Their 38-foot Disaster Response Unit and other rescue vehicles affiliated with their teams are fully stocked and on their way.
The entire relief effort is funded by donations from people like
us, and they desperately need our support. Please make an
emergency contribution to the Disaster Relief Fund today. Your
