For folks in Hawaii (or visiting over holiday) I highly recommend attending one of these presentations December 28-30.
Prof. Francis A. Boyle came to Hawaii in 1993 after the passage of the "Apology Bill" - which apologized for the illegal invasion and overthrow of the Hawaiian government a century earlier - and gave an address providing his interpretation of the bill and its implications for the restoration of the independent nation state of Hawai`i under international law.
Since that time the level of awareness about this issue in Hawaii has steadily grown and the understanding of Hawaii's history and path to restoration has become increasingly sophisticated.
There's been a lot of mostly facetious discussion here on dKos after the election of various options for states to secede and such, but for Hawaiians (by which I mean nationality, not necessarily ethnicity) who know their history, this is an absolutely real and serious issue which many have dedicated their lives to achieving through nonviolent means.
