We must also ask: what about the discrepancies -- documented and anecdotal -- between exit polling and the putative vote counts in those two states? Can we progressive bloggers wrest control of the narrative here from the mainstream media?

So in the worst case, suppose we lose. We still have a movement. The progressive web has been huge in this election -- for discussion, publicity, and organization -- and is still finding its voice and its power. We will continue to feed its growth with renewed vigor and energy. Aside from the daily struggle to present an alternate world view to that of the mainstream -- where we have a potent ally in Air America -- we may anticipate other battles -- such as that for Social Security -- which will test our mettle and resolve.
The Republican noise machine was not built in a day; the internet left dates only from the Clinton impeachment wars. I believe our best days are ahead of us, although I fear we may have pass through another Great Depression to reach them. That was my mother's generation -- she survived it; so will we.
