Thanks Mike Luckovich of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
I am confident the continued Bush mishandling of Iraq, the economy, our civil liberties, the environment will help lay the groundwork for a Progressive Democrat resurgence in Congress in 2006. And we'll be ready for the values debate next time too.
My comments on the "values issue" below.
I dont think they can do this to us a second time (though we should be prepared for it). What will the Conservatives Republicans do when all the red states have outlawed gay marriage? How will they turn their people out when there are no constitutional amendments to pass? How will they try to use the "values issue" against us again? The "values issue" was really a code word for anti-gay. They say they are pro-family and they mean that gay people, gay marriage and domestic partnerships are anti-family and "not our values." Remember the jib jab parts 1 and 2. Lots of effort by Rove and Co to make Gay Americans the issue. Plus painting Kerry and Edwards as pro-gay. I think thats how they added to the hispanic, Catholic and Fundamentalist Christian vote. I dont see them being able to do that again. Not if we call it out for what is is. Prejudice and homophobia. I see the media talking about "values". We need to get them to quit using the Republicans code words for prejudice.
For all those around here I read who were criticizing Chris "Tweety" Matthews of MSNBC, he called out in the Spring of 2004 that the Republicans would be using the anti-gay marriage amendments to get out their voters.
