As has been heavily covered here today, NBC refuses to air any ads that are not anti-gay, because that would "imply" that gay couples are worthwhile and just as valid as straight couples. But something I didn't realize until I watched tonight's Apprentice clip show is that next week,
Clay Aiken's holiday special will feature Yolanda Adams.
Who is Yolanda Adams?
She's a famous gospel singer. And as with Donnie McClurken and the Winans family, today's gospel music means that you spread fear and loathing about homosexuals, claim they can be changed, that they are diseased, and according to McClurken, that they should be killed. Adams has done her part to continue the trend -- she had an exclusive interview in the "Sex and Sexuality" ad insert which Washington Post ran a few weeks ago (you can find more details at
AmericaBlog. This was the insert which was designed specifically to incite black rage against gays, by claiming that MLK hated gays, that gays die at age 41, that gays spend all the day eating feces, and so forth.
So clearly aside from minstrel show routines like Will & Grace, NBC hates gays. They refuse to show any positive messages for gays, but give hatemongers national primetime exposure.
I really did expect better from Clay Aiken. I don't know why, since the other self-hating gospel closet case (Kirk Talley) has shown nothing but contempt for his own kind this year, going around to churches talking about how his "deliverance" and that gays are no better than murderers or drug addicts.
At least now I know to avoid anything by Clay Aiken, as well as NBC. Just more names to add to the bigot list. I hope that some of you add them to your list as well. Some of these artists may promote a clean-cut image to appeal to all Americans, but their true audience is the James Dobsons of this world. We can't let them have it both ways.
