As a Black Democrat, I got real charged up after reading "they just don't get it" today. And as a Black Christian Democrat, I find myself a member of two factions of the party that find ourselves feel unappreciated and really stuck between a rock and a hard place nowadays. I mentioned in a diary comment a few days ago about how us Christian Democrats often feel like we're taking it from both sides; the religious right twists, manipulates, and distorts what we believe in while many amongst the secular left wants us to leave our faith at home and often publicy labels us as being stupid or superstitious for believing in God.
As a Black man, it often feels like we get asked for our vote every four years and then we're supposed to go hide out and not raise too much of a fuss until the next election. And in between, we shouldn't actually ask for anything because we don't want our democratic congressmen/senators/president to look like they're pandering which may cost him/her votes from the white community.
It's like a double slap in the face.
